- 11.12.2025, 20:43
For the first time in a month and a half.
Gold prices rose above $4300 per ounce for the first time since October 21. February futures for the precious metal on the New York Mercantile Exchange (COMEX) rose by 2% to $4309.4 per ounce at the auction on Thursday, December 11, according to trading data at 19:52 Minsk time. By 20:01 Minsk, the growth slowed to 1.94%, quotations were at $4302.5.
Bloomberg writes that traders were encouraged that the Fed left open the possibility of further monetary easing next year, despite the fact that at the December meeting three officials did not support the latest rate cut of 25 bps. That said, the market still expects two rate cuts in 2026, although the Fed's updated projections still suggest only one cut.
Since the start of 2025, gold exchange-traded prices have added more than 60%. Bloomberg calculates that this year, gold is on track for its best annual gains since 1979.
