EU Council Approves Sixth Tranche Of Aid To Ukraine

The amount will be €2.3 billion.

The Council of the European Union (EU) has approved the allocation of macrofinancial assistance to Ukraine under the Ukraine Facility. The amount will amount to €2.3bn, the council's website said.

"The EU Council has approved the allocation of the sixth tranche of the €2.3bn Ukraine Facility to Kiev," the EU Council said in a statement. The document said the money "will arrive soon."

Ukraine Facility is a financial aid instrument for Ukraine under which EU countries plan to allocate up to €50 billion to Kiev until 2027. About €39 billion is intended to strengthen the country's macro-financial stability. The remaining amount is a special investment instrument to cover risks in priority sectors, cover interest on loans, etc.

In November, the EU allocated the fifth tranche of €1.8 billion to Ukraine. The EU support program for Kiev came into effect on March 1, 2024. It provides stable funding and support for Ukraine's reconstruction from 2024 to 2027. The total amount of aid reached €180bn.
