"Charter" Fighters Broke Through The Defense Of The Russians And Conduct A Sweep In The Center Of Kupyansk

The Ukrainian military went to the right bank of the Oskol River.

The Ukrainian defense forces continue their offensive in the direction of Kupyansk in Kharkiv Region and on the outskirts of the city. In particular, the Ukrainian military advanced in the center of Kupyansk, where mop-up operations continue. This is stated in a new report of the Institute for the Study of War (ISW).

It is noted that journalist and fighter of the 13th brigade of operational purpose of the NSU "Charter" Yuriy Butusov said on his Facebook page that Ukrainian troops fully control the Yubileyny neighborhood in the southwest of Kupyansk. He added that this would prevent the Russians from holding any positions left in the south of the city.

The journalist said that Ukrainian troops had liberated Tishchenkivka by September 24, Kondrashivka by October 9, and Radkivka by October 11. According to him, this allowed Ukrainian fighters to break through Russian defenses in the area.

Butusov also said that the Ukrainian military had reached the right bank of the Oskol River and cut Russian land lines of communication to Kupyansk from the north by October 21. At the same time, the Russians created a high-risk area for UAV strikes in the Kupyansk direction.

In addition, geolocation footage published on December 12 and 13 indicates that Russian sabotage groups are still in the northern and western parts of the city, ISW stressed.

Also, the chief of staff of the Ukrainian drone battalion said in a conversation with analysts that the occupants are still trying to infiltrate Kupyansk. According to him, more often than not, the enemy is trying to enter in foot groups.

The ISW noted that Russian "war correspondents" had previously reported that the Ukrainian Defense Forces were advancing into the Yubileyny microdistrict and northwest of Kupyansk, and also claimed heavy fighting near Myrovoye and Radkovka. Some Russian "war correspondents" even acknowledged the loss of Radkovka.

In addition, the report said Ukrainian units were advancing southeast of Petropavlivka. The Russians are trying to hold back the Defense Forces' advance, but they are suffering heavy losses.
