Putin Has Rejected Trump's Updated Peace Plan

The Kremlin has made it clear that it does not intend to negotiate a compromise peace with Ukraine.

Russian dictatorial aide Yuri Ushakov has made a new statement about the peace plan being promoted by Washington.

He ruled out the possibility of any compromise for the sake of ending the bloodshed. Ushakov's statement was published on the morning of December 14 by Kremlin pool propagandist Pavel Zarubin.

Putin's aide said that Russia has yet to see the updated document of the peace plan that Washington is coordinating with Kiev. Despite this, the Kremlin is already against the document in absentia.

"I think that the input of both the Ukrainians and the Europeans in these papers is unlikely to be constructive. This is the problem. Yes, we have not seen them (documents - ed.). But if there are amendments, we will have very strong objections, because we have very clearly stated our position, which seemed to be quite clear to the Americans. (Objections) on many points. There will be some provisions that are completely unacceptable to us, including on the territorial issue. I think so... The Americans not only know but also understand our position. I don't know what they will get on paper after these consultations. But it is unlikely to be something good," Ushakov said.

Factually, the Kremlin has once again made it clear that it does not intend to look for a compromise plan, but insists on Kiev's capitulation. Among Moscow's demands is the transfer of the entire Donbass to the Russian Federation, including those territories controlled by Ukraine. In addition, the Russians insist on the reduction of the Ukrainian army and Kiev's refusal to join NATO.

All these demands are unacceptable to Kiev and cannot be accepted. Tellingly, Ushakov also rejected Washington's idea of creating a demilitarized zone in Donbass, where neither Ukrainian nor Russian troops would be allowed. He also said that Russia had "never once" discussed with Washington an end to the war in the Korean scenario.
