Former Cash Collector And Ex-special Forces Officer Jan Papkovich Was Released From Prison
Jan Papkowicz

He was detained the night before he left the country.

Among the political prisoners who were released and deported to Ukraine on December 13 was 33-year-old Jan Papkovich, a former collector of Belgazprombank and ex-special forces officer.

After the outbreak of full-scale war, he quit his job and was going to leave for Poland with his wife and brother. But the day before, on September 2, 2022, he was detained by special forces. He was badly beaten, and his dog was shot and wounded, reports "Nasha Niva".

In BT stories, the guy was portrayed as a mercenary who was going to go to war in Ukraine.

In May 2023, Papkowicz was sentenced to four years in a general regime colony. He was charged under Article 342 of the Criminal Code (group actions grossly violating public order) and part 1 of Article 361-3 of the Criminal Code (participation in the territory of a foreign state in an armed formation or armed conflict). Jan did not plead guilty.

In December 2023, he was convicted in the case of disobeying the colony administration (Article 411) and given three months in prison and changed the detention regime to a stricter one. In April 2025, he was sentenced to another nine months in prison under the same article.

Before his release, according to "Viasna", Yan was in colony No. 20.
