The head of the Chechen Republic has not ruled out resigning.
The head of the Chechen Republic, Ramzan Kadyrov, said during a live broadcast on the Grozny TV channel of the Chechen State Television and Radio Broadcasting Company that he was "fed up" with the authorities. The broadcast was published on the TV and radio company's website.
"I think that new forces, new people would be more interesting. The situation would be improved if there were other people," Kadyrov said when asked about the likelihood of re-election in the coming year.
Before that, the republic's leader said he was ready to run for election in 2026, provided there was an appropriate offer from Russia's dictator and support from the region's residents.
In the spring Ramzan Kadyrov said that he was asking for his resignation and hoped that he would be able to leave his post.
Kadyrov himself later explained that he could not make the decision to resign - only Vladimir Putin could do so. The Chechen leader called himself a "foot soldier" who "follows orders."
