She also invited the pontiff to visit the country.

The president of the partially recognized country of Kosovo, Vjosa Osmani Sadriu, has asked Pope Leo XIV to recognize the republic's independence. The words of the head of the Muslim-majority entity are reported by Kallxo.

"I naturally expressed the hope and faith of all the people of Kosovo that the Vatican will finally take the long-awaited decision to recognize the Republic of Kosovo, to recognize the many years of suffering of the people of Kosovo for a free, independent and democratic life," she wrote.

Osmani also invited Leo XIV to visit the overwhelmingly Muslim country. No details were given about the dates of the possible visit.
