Russians Protested Against The Blocking Of The Gaming Platform

A picket against the blocking of the online gaming platform Roblox in the Russian Federation was held in Tomsk. More than 50 people took part in the event on Vysotsky Street on Sunday, December 14, local publication Tomsk.ru reported with reference to preliminary data.

Police detained two protesters, one of them was taken to the police station on suspicion of displaying extremist symbols.

The protesters included both supporters and opponents of banning Roblox. In particular, opinions were expressed about the beneficial effects of the gaming platform on children. Others pointed to the foreign origin of Roblox and called to "support Russian producers".

The picket was organized by local activist Anton Isakov, and the authorities gave permission to hold it.

Roskomnadzor blocked Roblox in early December, pointing to the distribution of extremist materials through "a service popular with children".
