Rechitsa Activist Sentenced To 10 Years In Prison

On Monday, December 15, Hrodna Regional Court sentenced Rechitsa activist Alexandr Zdorovennov to 10 years in prison, writes the human rights center "Viasna".

He was convicted under articles on promoting "extremist activity" (Article 361-4 of the Criminal Code) and "treason against the state" (Article 356 of the Criminal Code).

In addition, the court ordered Alexander to pay a fine of 500 basic (21,000 rubles).

The man was detained in the spring of 2025 at the Lithuanian border. At first, he was sent for 24 hours under the article on the distribution of "extremist materials" (Article 19.11 of the Administrative Code). After that, a criminal case was opened against him.

Alexander's brother, Vadim, was also detained. According to the Human Rights Center "Viasna," he was sentenced to two years in prison under the article on "insulting Lukashenko" (Article 368 of the Criminal Code) for one comment on social networks.
