The EU Has Agreed On A Legal Framework For Financing The Protection Of Critical Energy Infrastructure

Lithuania's energy minister revealed the details.
An agreement has been reached on a legal framework under which the protection of critical energy infrastructure of the Community's member states will be financed by the European Union (EU), Lithuanian Energy Minister Zygimantas Vaičiūnas claims, writes delfi.lt.
"It is encouraging that today guidelines have been set and a legal framework has been established so that the European Union can finance critical energy infrastructure Of course, these are only the first steps, but it is encouraging that the Council has approved a common approach to the CEF (European Infrastructure Networks Fund) regulation," the minister points out in a message posted on his Facebook page after the EU Energy Council meeting on Monday.
At the EU Energy Council meeting, ministers agreed a proposal for the European Infrastructure Networks Fund, through which the legal framework for investments in trans-European energy and transport networks between 2028 and 2034 is being established.
"Next year, the ultimate I believe that critical energy infrastructure and its protection is the interest of the entire European Union, we are actively working on this and preparing both the legal and practical basis for European funding," Vaičiūnas said.
