The answer came with many caveats.
Ex-head of Begazprombank Viktor Babariko, released from prison on December 13 and taken to Ukraine, in an interview with Ukrainian blogger Vladimir Zolkin answered the question whether Alexander Lukashenko is a dictator.
The blogger published the interview with the ex-political prisoner on his YouTube channel.
Victor Babariko answered a simple question with numerous reservations:
- I will answer in his words: he considers himself a dictator, he has repeatedly said that "I am a dictator".
- What do you think? - Zolkin clarified.
- Let's put it this way, I would say that if we mean by dictatorship, the establishment of power, in which one person who establishes or is the embodiment of power determines all systems of power, if we proceed from that, then yes. Because all the systems of power that are implied in a normal democratic society, namely the independence of three, or as it is now accepted, four powers, because they are all, from the judicial system to the media - they are all subordinated to the state. And if that's the case, then it's a dictatorship," said Viktor Babariko.
