Latvia Has Allocated Millions Of Euros To Protect Riga Airport From Drones

Details of the large-scale project have become known.
The Latvian government on Tuesday decided to allocate 2.42 million euros to strengthen security at Riga airport to protect it from drones.
It was reported by Delfi.
It is noted that the funds will be used to introduce modern technologies that will effectively detect and neutralize drones.
The total amount of funding consists of 1.955 million euros provided by the European Regional Development Fund, as well as 465,637 euros from the Latvian state budget.
The project, developed by the Ministry of Communications, envisages the creation of a comprehensive defense system, including the deployment of special infrastructure for the detection of drones, equipping the airport with the necessary sensors and the introduction of appropriate software.
The main goal of the initiative is to improve the ability of Riga Airport to timely detect, recognize, track and counteract drones that conduct unauthorized flights within critical airspace zones and on the territory of the airport.
The Ministry notes that Riga Airport belongs to the objects of strategic infrastructure, the disruption or damage of which may negatively affect the performance of state functions and pose a threat to the public and national security.
