Critical damage has been done.
Ukrainian drones have hit a Russian Federation drilling platform that is extracting oil and gas from the Grayfer field, the command said. Earlier it was said about Filanovskoye field, but now the data has been clarified. It turned out that it was possible to cause critical damage to the platform.
The AFU managed to stop all working wells of the Graifer field thanks to a long-range air strike. Grayfer, according to a statement by the AFU General Staff, which appeared on December 17. The attack took place on December 14. In addition, there is a report on the defeat on the night of December 17: the targets are located in the Krasnodar region and in the Rostov region of the Russian Federation.
The AFU General Staff clarified the results of the strike in the Caspian Sea, which took place three days ago. It turned out that it was possible to blow up the "operational and technical module of preparation and pumping of extracted gas". Due to the damage of important equipment, the Russians stopped the operation of all 14 wells. The total capacity of the wells is 3.5 thousand tons per day.

The General Staff's note also has information about fresh hits. In particular, on the night of December 17, the Slavyansky refinery in Slavyansk-on-Kuban (Krasnodar Krai), which processes 5.2 million tons of oil a year, was indeed hit. Another target is the Nikolaevskaya oil depot in Rostov region, a tank (probably for fuel) and the ship "Captain Gibert". In the temporarily occupied territory of the Luhansk region, an ammunition depot of the 101st separate MTZ brigade of the Russian army was blown up.
The Defense Forces used Deep Strike means to hit strategic facilities of the Russian Federation, particularly in the Krasnodar region, the command added. It did not specify what the targets on the Caspian Sea were hit with. If we place the listed targets on Google maps, we see that the platform on the Caspian Sea is about 900 km away, to the Slavyansky refinery - about 400 km, to the Nikolaevskaya base - about 300 km.
Strikes in the Caspian Sea - what are Russia's losses
The command's data on the capacity of wells can be recalculated - convert from tons to cubic meters and daily gas production to annual production. If the capacity of 3.5 thousand tons per day is specified, it is 1.2 million tons per year, or approximately 1.5 billion cubic meters per year.

The Greifer field is a part of the Caspian Sea with oil and gas deposits. The tentative name is "Shell oil and gas condensate field". The approximate location is 220 km southeast of Astrakhan. The neftegaz portal published an infographic of drilling rigs: we can see that the Filanovsky field is nearby. Filanovsky field, the defeat of which was previously reported by the General Staff.
In the summer of 2024, the Russian media said that the Greifer field with workers and at that time still intact platforms were planned to reach maximum production in 2028: 1.2 million tons of oil could be produced. In addition, it is specified that this is the third Lukoil facility in the Caspian Sea. The other two are the Filanovsky field and the Korchagin field. These two facilities produced a combined 6.9 million tons of oil in 2022.
