Good news for the Belarusian fighters.
The Ukrainian parliament has approved draft law No 14052 regulating the legal status and medical care of foreigners and stateless persons defending Ukraine. A total of 291 MPs voted for the document in the second reading and as a whole. The new law updates the rules of contract service in the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the State Special Transport Service and the National Guard, the Ukrainian media reported.
The key innovation of the document is the settlement of issues of residence of foreign volunteers on the territory of the state. Now they have the right to obtain a temporary residence permit, which will be valid for the entire term of the contract and three months after its completion. At the same time, the law allows the use of documents even those passports that have expired or need to be replaced, if the serviceman can not apply to the state authorities of his country.
The bill also defines the limits of social protection for this category of fighters. Foreigners and stateless persons will be entitled to monetary allowances, medical care and vacations. At the same time, the law limits the application of the norms of general legislation on social protection of servicemen, focusing precisely on these basic guarantees.
In addition, the document establishes clear deadlines for the issuance of certificates to persons who signed contracts before the entry into force of the law. It also provides for the acceleration of procedures for the realization of the right to Ukrainian citizenship by those who stood up to defend the sovereignty of Ukraine.
The law will support the solution of practical and legal problems faced by Belarusian volunteers: from legalization of stay to social guarantees and protection of their rights. 291 deputies voted in favor of the document.
