U.S. Senate Approves $900 Billion Defense Budget

The bill provides for $400 million in military aid to Ukraine.

The upper house of the US Congress approved on Wednesday a bill on the country's defense budget for 2026.

Seventy-seven senators voted in favor of the document, while 20 voted against it.

The bill must now be signed by US President Donald Trump to take effect.

The US House of Representatives approved the document last week.

According to the bill, which has more than 3,000 pages, the defense budget for 2026 will be $900 billion.The bill, in particular, provides for $400 million in military aid to Kiev.

In addition, the document provides for higher salaries for military personnel, limits on U.S. investments in China, as well as the lifting of sanctions on Syria.
