EU leaders will discuss the use of Russia's frozen assets at a summit on December 18-19.
The new Czech Prime Minister Andrej Babiš said his country supports the idea of using frozen Russian assets to help Ukraine, but refuses to provide financial guarantees and assume possible risks. Prague is not ready to do it at the expense of the national budget, Babiš said, Euroactive reports.
Speaking Wednesday before leaving for Brussels for a summit of EU leaders, Babiš emphasized that Prague's doubts are not about whether to help Kiev, but how to do it. "We will certainly have no problem supporting this option [the use of frozen Russian assets], but only on the condition that we do not provide guarantees in case these assets are used," he said.
