Zelensky Names Russia's True Goal In War With Ukraine

"They have Galya spoiled."

The aggressor country Russia is unable to change its own positions and will not agree to any compromise solution for peace in Ukraine, because it does not want to do so and does not yet feel the sanctions pressure in full. Therefore, the sanctions policy should not only be continued but also intensified, Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky believes.

There are no other options, and if the aggressors refuse diplomacy, it is necessary to increase pressure, the Ukrainian leader explained. He said this on December 20, responding to journalists.

"Russia cannot change its positions on its own - it does not want to. It wants - has considered and is considering - a complete occupation of our state. And certainly the destruction of our independence. It has always wanted this," Volodymyr Zelensky emphasized.

That is why sanctions and economic pressure on Russia are needed, he said. According to the Ukrainian president, if the Kremlin chief "will not have money, he will not be able to continue the war."

"Therefore, it is precisely this that needs to be pressured. And since we understand that, as they say, 'they have spoiled Galia,' it is necessary, in my opinion, for America to put a little more pressure on the Russians, not to give an alternative," the Ukrainian president said.

He called on the US to "clearly tell" the aggressors: if they do not agree to diplomacy (i.e., negotiations), there will be "very strong" military support for Ukraine and sanctions "completely - on the entire economy and on all sectors that bring money to the Russians."
