The dictator has supported the idea of the Russian Federation to build a drone factory.
Putin's deputy chief of staff Maxim Oreshkin said that a delegation of the Lukashenka regime will soon visit Moscow. Representatives of the countries will discuss proposals for joint UAV production.
‘The Belarusian delegation will now come to Russia, will study all the specific proposals. To come to certain agreements,' said Maxim Oreshkin to RIA Novosti.
On 6 March, Lukashenka supported Russia's idea to build a factory for manufacturing drones in the republic. He called the proposal ‘a very big prospect.’ It is expected that the plant will be able to produce up to 100 thousand UAVs per year.
Political scientist Anatol Kotau expressed an opinion in an interview with Charter97.org that such an enterprise in Belarus could provoke Ukraine to strike:
- First, I expect they will try to warn through the channels of communication, which are preserved anyway, that this is a bad idea.
If Belarus does not understand this, then a Ukrainian drone may land somewhere near the construction site of such a facility as a signalling measure to demonstrate the seriousness of intentions to prevent establishing a production facility that will openly produce the equipment used by Russia in its aggressive war against Ukraine.
If it is proved that the production of this enterprise is used for strikes against Ukraine, then another big target will be drawn on Belarus, and this target will definitely not be a civilian one, as in the case with the oil refinery, but quite a legitimate military target. Thus, Lukashenka is simply asking to be attacked.
