Another threat is Russia.
Lithuanian elites consider threats from Russia and Belarus to be the main threat to the country in the next five years.
According to a survey conducted by the Delfi portal, 257 representatives of the Lithuanian elite named threats from Russia and Belarus as the main challenge.
In second place, according to 226 respondents to the survey, is the growing instability in the world and the growing sense of insecurity. 209 respondents also named the demographic pit and low birth rate as an important challenge.
In addition, survey participants were asked to assess what the next five years will be like for Lithuania. The majority — 761 — of the elite representatives predict that there will be no significant progress in the country. 189 respondents believed that Lithuania will experience great progress, and 6 said that the country will face regression.
The opinion poll of the Lithuanian elite was conducted by the magazine Reitingai from December 27 last year to January 27 this year on the order of Delfi. 1,142 people were interviewed: politicians, business representatives, economists, civil servants, media managers and representatives, public figures, as well as pop culture, fashion and internet figures.
