The dictator twisted the words of the US President's special envoy.
US President Donald Trump's special envoy on Ukraine Keith Kellogg commented on Lukashenko's statements about the recent meeting. He emphasized that his words were taken out of context.
"The quote was taken out of the general context. During the conversation with Lukashenko, a complete and unconditional ceasefire was discussed. Possible restrictions for Ukraine were considered only if there were reciprocal steps on the part of Russia. I have never spoken about Ukraine other than within the framework of the idea of a complete cessation of hostilities," Kellogg wrote on social network X, attaching a link to an article with the headline "Kellogg promised Lukashenko to 'work' to ensure that the AFU does not hit the Russian Federation."
Lukashenko said earlier that he discussed the possibility of a ceasefire with Kellogg. According to him, he voiced Vladimir Putin's position, according to which a ceasefire is possible if Ukraine stops strikes on the territory of Russia.
Lukashenko also noted that Kellogg allegedly expressed readiness to "work in this direction."
This quote is taken out of context. In my conversation with Lukashenko we discussed a full and unconditional cease fire. Any limitation on Kyiv's conduct was conditional on reciprocal action by Moscow. At no point did I make comments related to Ukraine's prosecution of the war... pic.twitter.com/InSd6yJcFi
