Lithuanian Defense Minister Dovile Shakalene explained why the country's air defense did not shoot down the drone, which allegedly flew into the country from Belarus a few days ago.

She said that "one should not attach much importance to the example of Belarus," where the Belarusian services claim to have shot down a drone in Minsk on July 29 - according to Shakalene, the situation in our country is "completely different."

- The situation in Belarus is different than in Lithuania - no one is worried about what else will suffer from shooting left and right in the airspace. This is definitely not the first or the last drone they destroyed. It happens periodically. The number is different from ours," the minister said.

Meanwhile, Lithuanian Army Commander Raimundas Vaikschnoras insists that Belarus "faces certain difficulties" in this regard. He emphasized that the drone fell in Minsk, having already flown more than 300 km over the country.

- And why was it shot down only near Minsk? Look, it flew 300 km, it was shot down only near Minsk. This is by no means an excuse, understand correctly, but they (in Belarus. - Editor's note) also have problems," said Vaikshnoras.

Reminder, it became known about the fall of a drone in the yard of the house № 72 on Matusevicha Street in the morning on July 29. The drone, according to eyewitnesses, crashed into the house No. 72 on Matusevicha Street, after which it fell on a parked car and exploded. There is a kindergarten No. 12 in the yard of this house. There were no casualties as a result of the incident.

The fact of the UAV crash was later confirmed by the Defense Ministry. And the Investigative Committee said it had opened a criminal case over the drone crash. According to the ministry, the UAV's warhead contained TNT and metal balls.
