NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte has reacted to the Donald Trump administration's decision to suspend arms deliveries to Ukraine. According to Bloomberg, Rutte said he hoped for U.S. "flexibility" to provide Ukraine with resources for self-defense.

He said that obviously the U.S. needs to make sure that the stockpile is at the level it needs because it is crucial for NATO's collective defense.

"At the same time, of course, we hope for flexibility, we also have to make sure that Ukraine can move forward," he emphasized.

With Russia's apparent unwillingness to work on a cease-fire, allies must "make sure" that Ukraine "has what it needs to keep fighting," Rutte said.
