No one rules out jumping through a window or "self-shooting" in a back alley.
This is evidenced by the fact that General Alexander Lapin was removed from his post as commander of the North group of troops and replaced by Colonel-General Evgeny Nikiforov.
Those who read my notes carefully know that the Kremlin has two generals on its list of the most unfulfilled hopes to date: Alexander Lapin and Mikhail Teplinsky - commander of the Dnepr group of troops.
The Kremlin has long been irritated by both: Lapin by his failed operations, Teplinsky by his zero results.
Alexander Lapin began to cause the Kremlin's rejection when he failed the offensive in Kharkiv region in May 2024, and then missed the AFU's entry into Kursk region. The only reason he was not removed was so that the change of commander would not complicate an already bad situation. Lapin tried to impress the leadership with the operation "Pipe" - a "breakthrough" in Sudzha. However, if the propaganda glorified this talentless performance, presenting it as something brilliant and incomprehensible, the higher command made quite exhaustive conclusions about the operation.
The last chance for Lapin was the task of creating an absolutely unnecessary and inappropriate buffer zone on the territory of Sumy region. There were not enough forces and resources at the Kursk GV to accomplish this task, and as a result we are witnessing today the loss of even those few zones of control that remained with the Russian occupation forces.
It is notable in the purge of generals irritating the Kremlin that they will not be promoted or sent into honorable exile. Unlike many other cases, when they were rewarded and promoted for failures, criminal cases for corruption will soon surface against Lapin, and he will find himself in the dock.
Analogous fate awaits Mikhail Teplinsky, but this one is holding out for now, rubbing the Supreme War Criminal with tales that his brave "seals" are capable of retaking Kherson, and demonstrating a plan to land on the right bank of the Dnieper. The Supreme believes in these unsupported fantasies, especially when he hears stories about KAB strikes on the bridge to Korabel Island. But in general, Teplinsky and Lapin will probably become cellmates in time. It's a pity they are not in The Hague, but on the other hand - Russian cameras are not civilized Europe. So we watch and wait.
Although no one rules out a jump through a window or a "self-shooting" in an alley.
