The White House Hosted A Meeting Between Trump, Zelensky And EU Leaders

Main Statements.

A meeting between US President Donald Trump and EC leaders has begun in Washington.

The meeting was attended by the head of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen, French President Emmanuel Macron, German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, Finnish President Alexander Stubb, Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, British Prime Minister Keir Starmer and NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte.

Charter97.org recaps all the major statements that came out of the expanded White House meeting:

Donald Trump's statements

- The prospect of a resolution to the war in Ukraine will become clear in one to two weeks.

- Today we will reach agreement on virtually everything, including security issues.

- At the meeting with EU leaders and Zelensky, a possible "exchange" of territories will be discussed.

- I count on agreements from the meeting with EU leaders and Zelensky, which will lead to a trilateral meeting with Russia.

- The Alaska summit convinced that peace can be achieved. A Ukrainian settlement is a difficult but solvable task.

- I am confident that Putin and Zelensky can find common ground to resolve the war in Ukraine.

- The U.S. and Europe plan to provide maximum security for Ukraine.

- I expect that if negotiations are successful, Russia may immediately hand over a thousand prisoners to Kiev.

- There is also the possibility that a settlement will not be reached.

Vladimir Zelensky's statements

- The talks with Trump were very good, constructive.

- I hope that we will find a solution on all issues, including territorial issues.

- "Sensitive" territorial issues should be discussed at a trilateral meeting with Putin.

- I will be glad to Trump at the meeting with Putin, if it takes place.

Speeches by European leaders

Emmanuel Macron

- A trilateral meeting is very important, but first a ceasefire must be achieved.

- Among the security guarantees must be the preservation of a strong Ukrainian army.

- Ending the war can be discussed at a quadrilateral meeting with European participation.

Ursula von der Leyen

- The EU will work on security guarantees similar to NATO's Article 5.

Marco Rutte

- Trump has broken the deadlock by reaching out to Putin.

Friedrich Merz

- I can't imagine the next meeting on Ukraine without a ceasefire, let's put pressure on Russia.

Kir Starmer

- The war in Ukraine has had an impact on Europe as well. There is not a family in Britain that has not been affected.

George Meloni

- We have always been on the side of Ukraine, and support all of Trump's efforts.

Alexander Stubb

- Finland has a long border and a history of conflict with Russia. In 1944 Finland found a solution and in 2025 EU countries will find a solution to end the war.

As Charter97.org reported earlier, Trump and Zelensky had a meeting in open and closed formats.
