After talking to the maps at the White House, "the focus changed."
Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky has said that the issue of territories will be discussed between him and Kremlin chief Vladimir Putin.
This was reported by RBC-Ukraine with reference to the head of state's conversation with journalists.
It should be noted that this night between US President Donald Trump, Zelensky and European leaders held a meeting at the White House.
After it, the Ukrainian leader spoke to journalists and said that during the meeting he had a "rather long" conversation on the issue of territories. In particular, the situation was considered right on the map, which was prepared by the US, at the same time the Ukrainian side also had the same map. So here's what Zelensky said:
"We had a long conversation about it, it's very important to understand that some parts of our state, part of the east and Crimea, were occupied not because one army is pressing the other and the other is stepping back. And because there were no hostilities, for example, in Crimea, massive, so we cannot say that such a large part was occupied for such a period of time, because the Russians have a strong army," the Ukrainian president said.
He emphasized that such moments are important not to accuse anyone, but for the US President to understand what are the real advances of armies, and what is the strength of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
"For example, there are clear figures that were not (on the map, - ed.) that for 1000 days up to 1% of our territory was occupied by the Russians. People think 20% or 18% - and it was up to 1%. That changes the focus a little bit. For us the focus is on the truth and on reality, (it - ed.) changes a little bit the balance of what strength the Russian army has and what strength the Ukrainian army has," Zelensky said.
The Ukrainian leader also noted that this meeting was the first time he was able to talk to Trump, "not reading on papers, but knowing very well" every square kilometer.
Resuming Zelensky added that the issue of territories will remain between him and Putin.
"I think the president (of the United States, - ed.) heard it, saw it, and this is important information. And so the issue of territories is an issue that we will leave between me and Putin," the Ukrainian president summarized.
We will recall that after the talks at the White House, Trump made a post on social networks. In the publication, he said that after the meeting, he called the head of the Kremlin Vladimir Putin.
