A WSU colonel sharply criticized Trump's statement on military support.

President Donald Trump said that the United States is ready to "cover Ukraine from the air". The White House clarified that it is about the option of military support, the details are still being discussed with allies.

What exactly does Trump's promise to "cover Ukraine from the air" mean? About this site Charter97.org talked to the colonel of the AFU in reserve, military expert and flight instructor Roman Svitan:

-The main question here is not what exactly will be transferred to the U.S., but when. The fact is that all these promises are about troops and weapons, but on the terms, "You will first capitulate, sign a peace treaty of surrender with Russia, and then we will cover you, cover you and everything else." So the question is: when? After we capitulate?

Nobody will capitulate! So there's no point in talking about it now. This is an attempt to sweeten the pill, to push the idea of surrender, and then tell tales that someone will cover us later - when Ukraine has already lost a fifth of its territory.

Why do we need them then? If the task was to capitulate, we would have capitulated without them. But we have another task - to restore sovereignty and territorial integrity in accordance with the Constitution of Ukraine and the UN Charter. And they are not going to help in this restoration - they don't want to, because they have their own interests, which do not coincide with Ukrainian ones.

Therefore, they will go to the woods with their "covering of the sky" after the surrender. After the surrender we will not need this cover - we will already capitulate. All these proposals are related only to the condition of Ukraine's refusal to return the occupied territories by military means. We do not need this. We do not need the very concept: "You shoot yourself first, and then we will treat you. You first die, and then we will save you."

Who needs it? It's ridiculous. People who understand what military action is and what surrender is realize this perfectly well. We will not be sold such "guarantees".
