Lukashenko Shoots Himself In The Head

The dictator has not learned the lessons of recent history.

During a meeting on August 25 with the governor of Russia's Vologda Oblast Georghe Filimonov, the Belarusian ruler, wanting to please his dear guest, began thinking about the closeness of the Russian and Belarusian peoples.

"The great respect of our people for the Russian people. Even as a Soviet person it is difficult for me to pronounce it - that there are Russians, Belarusians... We are one people in fact. We came from the same root, we were born, we are absolutely similar to each other, we have the same principles, we are developing the way Slavic peoples should develop. We would like to have the kindest and warmest relations," said Alexander Lukashenko.

At the same time, saying that Russians and Belarusians are "one people," he apparently does not even suspect that he is shooting himself not only in the foot, but, one could say, in the head, writes UDF.

This is exactly the narrative that has been planted in Belarusian society by Russian propaganda for several decades. According to the Kremlin's logic, if we are "one people," then why Belarusians need their own state and statehood.

Vladimir Putin often repeats that Russians and Ukrainians are also one people. Kiev did not agree with this thesis. In fact, it is because of this disagreement that a bloody war has been going on in Ukraine for the fourth year already.

But everything is much simpler with Belarus - Lukashenko not only does not contradict the Kremlin propaganda, but deliberately rebroadcasts this thesis.
