Fesenko: Ukraine Has Three Key Trump Cards

A political analyst explained why Putin will not win the war.

Recently, the Ukrainian position as opposed to the Russian one has become stronger. While back in late February, US President Donald Trump claimed that Ukraine had no trump cards in its hands, today the US leader's position has become more realistic.

A political scientist, chairman of the board of the Penta Center for Applied Political Research Vladimir Fesenko told about this in a chat on "Glavreda". According to him, Trump has begun to realize that Trump does not have in his hands except the Kremlin dictator Vladimir Putin.

"Putin seems to think that he will win the war, and he is convincing Trump of this. Yes, some small advantage is there, some small progress is there too, but there is no cardinal advantage and no strong evidence that Putin is about to win this war. Accordingly, there are no prerequisites for us to have to agree to Putin's terms," the political analyst explained.

Trump's words about Russia's trumps of the aggressor country Russia mean only that it has more economic resources, manpower and weapons. However, the Russian Federation also has this advantage since the beginning of the full-scale invasion, but it has not won the war so far.

What trumps Ukraine has

"If we talk about our trumps, then, first of all, it is the resilience of the Ukrainian people and the strength of the AFU. Yes, we have many problems in the armed forces, but they fulfill their task with dignity - they hold back the onslaught of the enemy. And Ukrainian society is not going to capitulate to Putin. This, in my opinion, is our main trump card. The whole world saw it back in 2022. Because at that time, no one believed that we would stand up to Russia. No one, including our Western partners, in particular then US President Biden and many others. But we survived because it turned out that we have a strong army and society," Fesenko noted.

Another trump card of Ukraine is strikes deep into Russian territory. The Ukrainian military has not even used ballistic or cruise missiles yet, but it carries out powerful drone strikes on strategically important Russian facilities almost daily.

This is confirmed by gasoline outages in some regions, the increase in gasoline prices in Russia, serious problems with air travel and the consequences of Operation Web.

"The third most powerful trump card in our hands is the support of our partners. After all, Putin was betting that we would not be supported in 2022, and it was an unpleasant surprise to him that we were supported even now. Why did Putin think he would win this war this year? Because Trump came in and under him financial aid to Ukraine stopped, and in fact military aid too. Putin hoped that without the Americans we wouldn't last long and would lose the war. But we see now that military and financial support for Ukraine continues," the political analyst added.

Now Ukraine's main partner is the European Union and European countries. They provide weighty military and financial support, which prevents Russia from winning this war.
