Ukraine's defense minister revealed the details.
The United States and the North Atlantic Alliance are launching a new mechanism to support Ukraine - the initiative Prioritized Ukraine Requirements List (PURL).
The Ukrainian Defense Minister Denis Shmygal said on Monday, August 4.
"The purpose of this mechanism is to ensure the rapid delivery of systems and weapons to Ukraine, which, in large quantities, can be obtained from the United States, in order to strengthen Ukraine's position and create conditions for achieving a just and sustainable peace," Shmygal said.
The PURL initiative, he said, is implemented within the framework of agreements between the presidents of Ukraine Vladimir Zelensky, the United States Donald Trump and NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte. Through this mechanism, NATO member states and partners will be able to finance the supply of US arms and technology through voluntary contributions.
The initiative envisages the formation of a list of necessary equipment and ammunition based on Ukraine's requests and confirmed by the Supreme Allied Commander Europe (SACEUR).
The minister said that new aid packages will be announced regularly. NATO will coordinate deliveries within the framework of this mechanism, in particular through the already existing channels (NATO Security Assistance and Training to Ukraine - NSATU).
Smygal also said that the Netherlands has already taken over the financing of the first aid package worth 500 million euros, and arms deliveries are expected in the near future. The minister stressed that more important announcements will also come soon.
The Dutch Defense Minister Ruben Brekelmans announced a new military aid package worth 500 million euros, which will include U.S. weapons systems, particularly components and missiles for Patriot SAMs.
