Kaja Kallas: EU Donates 170 Million Euros To Civil Society In Belarus

The EU promised to support the Belarusians on the way to democracy "as long as it takes".

Immediately release all political prisoners and stop repression called the Belarusian authorities on the occasion of the fifth anniversary of the Belarusian revolution.

"Belarus should also stop supporting Russia's illegal war against Ukraine," she emphasized.

Kallas expressed solidarity with the Belarusian people and said that since 2020 the EU has allocated 170 million euros to support Belarusian civil society, independent media and victims of repression.

The EU will continue to support the Belarusian people on their path to democracy as long as necessary and impose sanctions against those who suppress democracy and violate human rights, the EU representative emphasized.
