Bulgaria Confirms Possible Russian Federation Interference In GPS Signal When Von Der Leyen's Plane Landed

The head of the EC saw with her own eyes the daily challenges posed by Russia.

Bulgarian authorities have confirmed the presence of external interference in the GPS network during the landing of the plane of European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen in the city of Plovdiv and suspicions that it was interference from Russia.

The statement was made to journalists by the deputy chief spokeswoman of the European Commission Arianna Podesta, "European Pravda".

Bulgaria suspects that the GPS signal during the landing of von der Leyen's plane in Plovdiv was jammed by Russians.

"We can indeed confirm that there was GPS jamming, but the plane landed safely in Bulgaria. We have received information from the Bulgarian authorities that they suspect this was because of clear Russian interference," Podesta stressed.

She added that the European Union is aware of "and in a certain way used to the threats and intimidation that are a regular element of Russia's hostile behavior."

"Of course, this will only further reinforce our unwavering commitment to build up defense capabilities and support Ukraine. This incident really underlines the relevance of the mission that the president (von der Leyen) is carrying out these days in frontline member states," the European Commission spokeswoman said.

She added that Ursula von der Leyen had thus "seen with her own eyes the daily challenges of threats from Russia and its associates."
