The batteries stationed near Rzeszów played an important role in the defense of airspace.
On Tuesday night, the situation on NATO's eastern flank escalated again: Russian attack drones not only attacked Ukrainian territory, but also repeatedly intruded into Polish airspace.
German Patriot air defense systems stationed on Polish territory were involved in drone detection and tracking operations, according to the profile publication Defence24.
A source in the German security forces confirmed that the two batteries stationed near Rzeszów played a key role in airspace control. Their radar systems made it possible to detect drone intrusions in a timely manner and transmit data to the Polish command.
The Polish Operational Command (DORSZ) reported "more than ten violations" and that some of the vehicles were shot down. Deputy Prime Minister and Defense Minister Wladyslaw Kosiniak-Kamysh clarified: the drones that posed a threat to the population and infrastructure were destroyed.
