The U.S. Has Pledged To Defend Every Inch Of NATO Territory

After the invasion of Poland by Russian Federation drones.

Acting U.S. Permanent Representative to the United Nations Dorothy Shea said that the United States is ready to defend the Alliance's territories after Poland shot down Russian drones that violated its airspace.

The U.S. State Department's website reports this.

Dorothy Shea said that Washington "will defend every inch of NATO territory" and maintain We cannot allow it to escalate into a broader conflict. Russia must demonstrate its seriousness by taking immediate, concrete steps toward peace," the diplomat said.

Almost 50 UN member states condemned Russia's incursion into Polish airspace on the night of September 10. A statement to this effect was read by Poland's Deputy Foreign Minister Marcin Bosacki before an emergency meeting of the UN Security Council.

Poland and the signatory countries called on Russia to immediately stop its war of aggression against Ukraine, refrain from further provocations and abide by the obligations enshrined in the UN Charter.
