Nikolai Statkevich's Life Is In Danger

Belarusian opposition leader was left without vital drugs.

For the third day nothing is known about the fate of Nikola Statkevich. The leader of the Belarusian opposition refused to leave Belarus during the forced deportation of political prisoners to Lithuania. At the border, he knocked down the doors of the bus, which was carrying prisoners, and ran out into the territory of Belarus.

"His bag with medicines, which the politician needs to take daily, was left on the bus. During five years of imprisonment, Nikolai Statkevich has had three bouts of covitis and suffered a heart attack. He has arrhythmia and serious heart problems.

Nothing is known about Nikolai Statkevich for the third day already: he was taken away from the border by law enforcement officers. He has not returned home, his wife knows nothing about him", - writes the editor-in-chief of Charter97.org Natalya Radina in Facebook.

Friends of Nikolai Statkevich hope that the fate of the politician will be taken care of by the U.S. authorities, who are negotiating with the Lukashenko regime on the release of political prisoners.

"Whether they will do something is still unknown. Today we all need to ring the bell, because the life of Nikolai Statkevich is in danger," - writes Natalia Radina.
