What Russians Think Of Putin's Achievements

The opinion poll revealed an unpleasant truth for the Kremlin.

Over the past 10-15 years under Putin's leadership, Russia has had no achievements that would be remembered by the majority of citizens, according to the results of a VTsIOM poll. Only 42% of respondents were able to name specific successes of the country. 51% found it difficult to answer, and another 7% said they saw no reason to be proud, according to The Moscow Times.

Annexation of Crimea was listed among "significant achievements and successes" by only 6% of respondents, while another total of 3% considered the war with Ukraine ("SWO"), Putin's decision to annex the captured territories of Donetsk, Lugansk, Zaporizhzhya, and Kherson regions, and "defense of Donbass" as such. 8% of Russians paid attention to the development of industry with import substitution. The same number of people named the production of weapons and the fact that the country has "understood the army" as a reason for pride.

Also, 7% of citizens believe that Russia has made achievements in science, and 5% - in medicine. The rest of the answers to the open-ended question scored less than 5%. For example, 3% of respondents called foreign policy a success, noting that Russia "has begun to be feared." And only 2% saw an improvement in the country's standard of living.
