Transit through Belarus declined even before the border was closed.

Railroad container transportation from China to the EU via Belarus has significantly decreased this year. And it happened even before the Polish-Belarusian border was blocked.

As noted by the resource banki24, the decline in transportation was recorded by industry experts, having studied the railway statistics for 8 months. The reduction for this period amounted to 22% compared to last year.

After August, the volume of transportation decreased by 23% compared to last year.

The share of transportation along this main route through Kazakhstan, Russia and Belarus approached 89%.

As previously reported, the closure of the Polish-Belarusian border in September, which lasted almost two weeks, forced carriers (including Chinese) to seek alternative supply routes.
