Polish President Discusses Detention Of Carmelite Monk In Belarus In Vatican

Karol Nawrocki also raised the topic of other Poles in Belarusian prisons.

Polish President Karol Nawrocki is on a visit to the Vatican. On September 5, he met with Pope Lion XIV and representatives of the Catholic Church. One of the topics raised by the Polish head of state was Poles imprisoned in Belarusian prisons, writes polsatnews.pl.

"I intend to make efforts on the international arena to protect Poles outside the country, especially those imprisoned by Belarus. This is one of my tasks as president of Poland," was how Karol Nawrocki commented on the arrest of Polish Carmelite monk Gzegorz Havel in Belarus.

The regime accuses him of alleged espionage. The Polish government said that Warsaw considers these actions as provocation of the Belarusian regime.
