European Countries Have Begun To Curtail Intelligence Sharing With The U.S.

Because of Trump's threats to Greenland.

US President Donald Trump's intention to invade Greenland has caused a rift within NATO that has already led European countries to stop sharing intelligence with Washington, knowledgeable sources in the alliance told the British publication The i Paper.

One of them said the White House chief's threats have created an atmosphere of mistrust between European and American NATO colleagues. "American colleagues came to me and apologized; one of them apologized on behalf of his people," the interlocutor told the publication. He added that there is a perception in the alliance that the country "that we all looked up to and valued" has now "stabbed us in the back."

As a result, NATO officials are no longer "speaking openly" amid growing fears that the information will get to Trump and could be used in an attempt to seize Greenland, the i Paper source noted. In turn, the publication's source in British intelligence called the deterioration in ties between Washington and its allies "unprecedented" and warned that "individual political upheavals" caused by Trump would affect intelligence relations.

The i Paper's U.S. intelligence source also said Trump's actions were "alliance-destroying steps." He said they could "completely change the world order for decades to come."
