The head of the Russian Federation is very scared.
Russians have reacted sharply to the high-profile US-led operation in Venezuela to remove Nicolas Maduro from power. On the other hand, the Kremlin may project these events on its own account.
The political scientist Peter Oleshchuk told "24 Kanal", noting that Vladimir Putin may realize that the scenario that the U.S. implemented with regard to Maduro is hypothetically possible with regard to him as well. It is not without reason that strange things have been happening to him lately.
Why has Putin practically disappeared from the public space?
"I think that Putin, with his paranoia, will project all this onto himself. After all, at one time he was very indignant about what was done to Muammar Gaddafi (Prime Minister of Libya - Channel 24). It was something unbelievable for him - how could such a thing be done to a sitting dictator?" - emphasized the political analyst.
Oleshchuk drew attention to an interesting point that Putin has once again not appeared anywhere in particular lately. Recently, a propaganda New Year's Eve story was shown where he was not present in person, but made a comment by phone.
"On this occasion, they joked that Trump was talking about Maduro, who did not have time to run to his bunker. And Putin has the foresight to stay in his bunker," he said.
At the same time, Trump is unlikely to have the same plans for Putin that he, according to the political scientist, realized with regard to Maduro.
"The US president's determination to establish relations with Putin has not gone anywhere. And it will remain dominant in relations between the United States and Russia, at least during the Trump administration," he said.
But indirectly, Putin may perceive this situation as a possible threat to himself
And moreover, the story surrounding Maduro's detention, according to Oleshchuk, in the end cannot help but give rise to Putin's thoughts that there was treason on the part of the Venezuelan ex-president's inner circle, which colluded with the Americans and gave up their leader.
"Putin after the Evgeny Prigozhin mutiny has already taken his paranoia to an unprecedented level, and now he will look all the more closely at everyone, whether someone is plotting treason and is somehow in contact with his enemies," emphasized Petro Oleshchuk.
With the backdrop of events in Venezuela, the official Russian and Persian accounts of the US State Department released the following text: "President Trump is a man of action. You didn't know? Now you do." A black-and-white photo of the US president was also added with the caption "Don't play games with President Trump".
There is, however, another ambiguous point - a warning, particularly for Russians, that the US State Department showed. This is an obvious message to the Russian dictator.
