One of the satellites is currently descending at a rate of approximately 1.7 km per day.

Two “Rassvet” satellites—No. 17 and No. 23—which Russia launched into orbit in July of this year, are rapidly losing altitude. This was reported by the Telegram channel “Ukraine Context,” which is considered close to the head of the Office of the President of Ukraine and former head of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense Kirill Budanov, notes “UniAn” reports.

- They are currently in orbits at an altitude of about 240–260 km and continue to descend at a rate of up to 1.6 km per day. If the Russians are unable to adjust their orbits, the satellites will simply burn up in the atmosphere, according to the report.

This information is also confirmed by Clash Report. The publication specified that satellite No. 17 is at an altitude of about 245 km and is descending at a rate of approximately 1.7 km per day, and also noted that one of the satellites from the previous batch, launched in March, had already burned up in the atmosphere in June.

It is noted that most satellites are routinely deployed into a target orbit at an altitude of 500–540 km; however, due to recurring malfunctions in the propulsion systems of some satellites, the process is proceeding slowly.

“Currently, coverage is provided only during short daily intervals, rather than as a continuous service; the timeline for achieving the project’s commercial goals has been pushed back to at least 2027,” writes Clash Report.
