Belarusians Living In Switzerland Held A Solidarity Rally In Zurich

The protest was held to mark Mother's Day.

A solidarity rally in support of Belarusian political prisoners took place on October 14 in Zurich, Switzerland. It was organized by members of the Belarusian diaspora and the human rights organization Libereco.

Flowers and flyers with information about what is happening in our country were handed out to passersby.

In comments to the "Basta!" Telegram channel, participants emphasized that they timed the event to coincide with Mother’s Day.

“Thousands of Belarusian women are waiting for their sons and daughters, who are in prison on false charges,” said one Belarusian man. “Their tears and suffering are on the conscience of just one man—Lukashenko. But we can influence the early release of political prisoners by organizing protests, speaking out in the media, and bringing this important information to the attention of Western politicians. An end to repression in Belarus must be the primary condition for any negotiations with the regime.”

Former political prisoner Andrei Voynich took part in the protest.
