An ammonia leak occurred at the Gomel Chemical Plant. According to the Ministry of Emergency Situations, the leak took place in an open warehouse area on the night of October 6. Approximately 50 kg of ammonia was released.

“Rescue workers stopped the leak by closing the valve,” the ministry added.

Measures were taken to capture the vapors and neutralize the ammonia. As a result, no exceedances of the maximum permissible concentration of ammonia vapors in the air were recorded.

There were no casualties. The cause of the incident is under investigation.
