Ten years later, he became Luce.
Ferrari CEO John Elkann said that Jeff Bezos had advised him at the time to get serious about developing an electric car, and that the company worked on the Luce's design in collaboration with former Apple designer Jony Ive. This was reported by the Reuters.
The conversation between Elkann and the Amazon founder about the future of electric vehicles took place back in July 2016. During a walk, Bezos admitted that he didn’t know much about cars but was well-versed in the field of innovation, and he advised Ferrari to seriously consider developing an electric car.

This conversation ultimately became one of the catalysts for the creation of the Ferrari Luce—the brand’s first all-electric model, which was unveiled in May 2026.
The design was handled by a team led by Ive and his company, LoveFrom. According to Ive, the specialists spent nearly a year studying Ferrari’s history and culture before they began working on the car. After that, the LoveFrom team in California and Ferrari engineers in Maranello worked together on the project for five years.

However, the electric car’s exterior has drawn mixed reactions. Following its debut, the model was widely discussed on social media, and its unusual design was criticized by some users. Some investors also questioned Ferrari’s decision to focus on electrification.
