Reuters: Giant Kuwaiti Tanker On Fire In The Persian Gulf

The owner of the vessel gave new details about the impact.

Iranian forces on Tuesday fired on the fully-loaded oil tanker Al Salmi near the coast of the United Arab Emirates after U.S. President Donald Trump warned the previous day that the United States would destroy virtually all energy facilities and oil wells in Iran unless the Strait of Hormuz was opened to shipping, The Moscow Times quoted Reuters as saying.

The Kuwaiti-flagged vessel's owner, Kuwait Petroleum Corp, said the strike occurred early Tuesday morning and caused fire and hull damage, but no injuries were reported.

Dubai authorities later said they had managed to bring the fire under control.
