The Book *Natalya Radina’s Belarus* Will Be Presented In Vilnius

The meeting will take place tomorrow.

The Seimas Visitor Center (Seimo lankytojų centras, Gedimino pr. 60) in Vilnius will host a presentation of a new book by renowned American historian and journalist Yuri Felshtinsky “Natalia Radina’s Belarus: A Journalist Against a Dictator.”

The presentation will feature Belarusian journalist and editor-in-chief of the “Charter ’97” website Natalia Radina, and the coordinator of the “European Belarus” civic campaign, Dmitry Bondarenko. The event will be moderated by Father Vyacheslav Borok.

“Natalia Radina’s Belarus: A Journalist Against a Dictator” is the story of modern Belarus as told through the life of one person. At the center of the book is Belarusian journalist and politician Natalia Radina, editor-in-chief of one of the country’s most well-known opposition websites—“Charter ’97.”

Alongside the protagonist, the reader experiences the key events of Belarus’s recent history—from the protests of the mid-1990s to the present day. The book tells of the struggle for freedom, political repression, and murders orchestrated by the Lukashenko regime, as well as imprisonment, persecution, and the protagonist’s incredible escape from the KGB.

Many well-known contemporaries also appear in the book—Stanislav Shushkevich, Dalia Grybauskaitė, Lech Wałęsa, Andrzej Wajda, Boris Nemtsov, Leonid Nevzlin, Hillary Clinton, and others.

The author portrays Belarus as a distinct European country with its own history and identity. Despite years of dictatorship, repression, and a lack of real international support, Belarusian society continues to fight for freedom.

This book will be of interest not only to historians, journalists, and political scientists, but also to anyone who wants to better understand Belarus and its modern history.

The book will be presented in Belarusian, Ukrainian, and Russian.

The presentation will take place on Wednesday, April 22, at 6:00 p.m.
