The operation was conducted from the destroyer USS Pinckney.

The United States has intercepted a ship of Iran's "shadow fleet" in the Arabian Sea, which was trying to break a naval blockade and transport energy resources.

It was reported by Reuters.

The ship in question is the Sevan, which was part of a group of 19 ships transporting Iranian oil and gas products to foreign markets.

The ship was intercepted by a U.S. Navy helicopter from the destroyer USS Pinckney, according to the military. It is now under orders to return to Iran under the escort of US forces.

The Central Command noted that the "shadow fleet" vessels are under sanctions by the US Treasury Department because of their participation in the transportation of energy resources, particularly propane and butane, worth billions of dollars.

Since the beginning of the naval blockade, 37 vessels have already been forced to change course.
