"Belshina Is Sounding The Alarm Over China

The Belarusian company is being squeezed out of the Russian market.

Chinese tires have flooded the Russian market - there are already more than 250 brands from the Celestial Empire. As a result, production in Russia itself and imports of tires from Belarus are decreasing.

According to Tebiz Group estimates, last year China accounted for 55.5% of the total volume of tire imports to the Russian market. Belarus is not even second anymore. With 9% it ceded this place to the tire manufacturers of Vietnam (10%). The top five suppliers are also manufacturers from South Korea (7%) and Thailand (6.6%), writes "Delovoy Peterburg".

According to Russian manufacturer Ikon Tyres (formerly Nokian Tyres), in 2024 in Russia there were about 200 Chinese brands, by the end of 2025 their number will increase to 250.

"The main challenge for Russian companies in competition with importers is pricing. Foreign products often enter our market at artificially low prices, which is possible due to government programs to support exports in China and other countries. In addition, products with low quality, safety and environmental performance due to the lack of regulatory barriers may be on sale," the company's press service said.

According to the "Honest Mark" product labeling system, in 2025 tire production in Russia fell by 21%, from 44.7 million to 35.1 million pieces. The share of Russian companies in its market decreased by 6% to 51.5%.

As a result, major manufacturers have asked the Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC) to conduct a special protective investigation into growing imports of passenger car and light truck tires. Among the applicants are the Russian plants Kordiant, Kama, Ikon Tyres and the Belarusian Belshina.

Business Petersburg writes that the result of the review may be the introduction of quotas or duties on supplies from abroad.
