Zelensky Sent An Urgent Letter To Trump And The US Congress
VLADIMIR ZELENSKY

Its contents became known.

Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky has sent an urgent letter to the US leadership, in which he warned of an aggravated shortage of air defense systems in Ukraine, in particular means to intercept ballistic missiles. This was reported on May 27 by Kyiv Independent, later this information was confirmed by Zelensky's adviser Dmytro Lytvyn.

The letter is addressed to US President Donald Trump. It was also delivered to the White House, House Speaker Mike Johnson and other members of the U.S. Congress.

In the letter, Zelensky stressed that Ukraine is increasingly dependent on partners for protection from missile strikes by the aggressor country Russia, and almost entirely on the United States for missile defense. Of particular concern are the limited stocks of Patriot air defense interceptors and other Western systems.

Zelensky noted that the pace of arms deliveries through the Prioritized Ukraine Requirements List (PURL) program, which allows NATO allies to fund the purchase of U.S. weapons for Ukraine, does not match Russia's threat level.

The appeal also calls on the U.S. and Congress to remain involved in supporting Ukraine and facilitate the delivery of additional air defense systems, particularly Patriot PAC-3 missiles.

The head of state emphasized that the skies over Ukraine can be protected.

Axios journalist Barak Ravid published a photo of Zelensky's letter on social network X. Litvin confirmed its authenticity.
