Reuters revealed the details.

Ukrainian strikes on Russian oil refineries are having an increasingly tangible impact on Russia's fuel sector. Diesel production is declining for the second month in a row.

According to Reuters.

According to the agency, Russia's diesel production in May fell by about 10 percent compared to the previous month. A similar drop was recorded in April.

The main reason is attributed to Ukrainian drone attacks on Russian oil refineries. Because of the damage, some of the refineries were forced to reduce work or temporarily halt production.

Ukraine has been systematically striking Russia's energy infrastructure in an effort to reduce Moscow's revenues from the sale of oil and oil products, which are used to finance the war against Ukraine.

Reuters estimates that in April, the refineries affected by the attacks produced 1 million tons less diesel than usual. In May, losses amounted to about 600,000 tons more.

In comparison, Russian diesel production was estimated at 7.5 million tons in March.

Exports remain high

Despite the production cuts, Russia continues to maintain significant diesel exports.

According to market sources and LSEG, seaborne exports of diesel and gasoil rose 8% in April from March to about 3.25 million tons. In May, exports remained at about the same level.

Russian authorities have even considered temporarily restricting exports in order to supply the domestic market with fuel during the active field season.

At the same time, industry sources believe that a ban is unlikely, as additional restrictions could further complicate the work of refineries.

The publication noted that a drop in diesel production could limit Russia's ability to take advantage of its ability to export diesel fuel.

Russia's oil refineries are also concerned about the possibility of a ban on diesel exports.
