Ukraine Will Be The First To Receive Modern Anti-ballistic Air Defense Systems

Zelenskyy revealed the details.

Ukraine will be the first to receive the new, enhanced French-Italian SAMP/T NG anti-ballistic missile systems. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced this during his visit to France on July 14.

“France will also provide two SAMP/T systems to strengthen our defenses as early as this year. At the same time, France and Italy will expedite deliveries of Aster 30 missiles by October of this year,” the Ukrainian leader noted.

Zelenskyy emphasized that France has decided to begin licensed production for Ukraine of Aster missiles, which are used in the SAMP/T air defense system, as well as AASM Hammer guided bombs and SCALP cruise missiles, as French President Emmanuel Macron had already mentioned the day before. Macron also reported that the first French-made Rafale fighter jets are expected to begin operations in Ukraine in 2028–2029.

The President of Ukraine noted that plans are in place to purchase the first 16 Rafale aircraft for the combat aviation branch of the Armed Forces, along with the necessary equipment, and that training for Ukrainian pilots and mechanics in France is set to begin as early as this year. After that, he said, the first four Rafale aircraft will be transferred to the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
